Unrestricted Bequest

An unrestricted gift by Will or Living Trust is especially helpful in supporting the work of A.R.E. Possible language would be:

I give, devise, and bequeath to the Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.,* a Virginia not-for-profit corporation, located at 215 67th Street, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451, Taxpayer ID No. 54-0573802, the sum of __________Dollars [or personal property] [or percentage of my estate] [or rest, residue and remainder of my estate] to be used for the benefit of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc* as its Board of Trustees may determine.

Restricted Bequest

A restricted bequest is a gift that must be used for a specific purpose(s). Such a bequest might read as the sample above except that the following wording would be added at the end:

. . . for Study Group work [or medical research of the Cayce readings] [or the library] [or another particular A.R.E. program you wish to support].

Real Estate

For a gift of specific property, possible language would be:

I give, devise, and bequeath my residence at 101 Main Street, Hometown, Ohio, to the Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.,* a Virginia not-for-profit corporation, located at 67th Street and Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451, Taxpayer ID No. 54-0573802, to be used, including the proceeds therefrom, if sold, for its general purposes as its Board of Trustees may determine.

*You may substitute Edgar Cayce Foundation or Atlantic University, each a Virginia not-for-profit corporation, if desired.
