Edgar Cayce readings

Explore the topics of Edgar Cayce’s readings, which include Akashic Records; ancient mysteries; astrology; dreams; ESP and psychic phenomena; health and wellness; life’s purpose and challenges; meditation and prayer; reincarnation; and spiritual growth.

The Akashic Records, also known as “The Book of Life” or “God’s Book of Remembrance,” can be equated to the universe’s super-computer system. They are the central storehouse of all information for every individual who has ever lived upon the earth. These records contain our every thought, deed, word, feeling, and intent.

Edgar Cayce claimed that the history of humankind went back some ten million years! While in a trance state, Cayce’s ability to peer into the past with uncanny psychic accuracy was demonstrated repeatedly. Cayce used this type of psychic ability, called “retrocognition,” when giving readings that accessed and spoke of past events in an individual’s life as well as ancient history.

The biggest difference between Cayce’s perspective on astrology and what might be thought of as traditional astrology is that Cayce said the positions of the stars and planets at our birth aren’t predicting our future so much as they are telling us a story about our past, and how our past may be influencing our present.

Edgar Cayce famously said that nothing of importance happens in our lives that isn’t first foreshadowed by a dream. This doesn’t mean that all of our dreams predict the future, nor do they necessarily tell us what to do, but they do provide insights from our subconscious (or soul) minds to assist us with whatever is going on in our lives.

ESP & psychic phenomena

Edgar Cayce’s life is filled with examples of what we call extra-sensory perception (ESP) or psychic phenomena. He was best known for his unique ability to put himself into a trancelike state, in which he gave thousands of documented readings detailing advice from health and spiritual growth to ancient mysteries and dream interpretation, but his psychic abilities were available to him in his waking state as well. Cayce stated that any of us could do what he did.

health &

One of the most important concepts Edgar Cayce’s readings imparted was that when it comes to one’s health, the whole person–body, mind, and spirit–needs to be considered. In fact, an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association stated, “The roots of present-day holism probably go back 100 years to the birth of Edgar Cayce.” The majority, about 70%, of readings given by Cayce were for people requesting healing of their overall health, acute or chronic illnesses, or diseases.

life’s purpose
& challenges

According to the Edgar Cayce philosophy, each person living on the earth is here for a specific soul purpose; a purpose that no one else can fulfill. While for some people, their purpose might be directly related to a profession or vocation, for others it could simply be a particular way of living day by day. Finding and then understanding and living your soul’s purpose is actually a life-long process.

& prayer

According to Edgar Cayce, attunement and application are at the heart of spiritual growth. Attunement is the process of awakening to our spiritual nature and our true relationship with God. The most frequently recommended tools for achieving this attunement are the regular practice of prayer and meditation. Cayce believed that prayer was talking to God, while meditation was listening to God.

The Cayce approach to reincarnation focused on practical ways of dealing with life in the here and now—by living, growing, and being of service in the present. As Cayce said, it isn’t nearly so important who we have been so much as it is how our past actions affect our present conditions and what opportunities and challenges we face because of it.

Cayce frequently reminded us that “Spirit is the Life, Mind is the Builder, and the Physical is the Result.” In other words, spirit is the source of our lives. Our mind then focuses that spiritual energy into creative or destructive (positive or negative) avenues of expression. The impact of our choices will eventually find expression in the physical realm, affecting our health, our lives, and our relationships with one another.
