Ginseng/Ginger Tonic

Although various formulations of a ginseng/ginger tonic were recommended by Edgar Cayce for bowel disease and digestive problems, the most common formula recommended these essential active ingredients:

  • wild ginseng
  • wild ginger
  • elixir of lactated pepsin

In some readings, tincture of stillingia was also included in the formula.

Daily use of the tonic is recommended. Typical dosage is 1/2 teaspoonful in water on arising and before retiring each day. Usually, Edgar Cayce suggested that many treatments (and especially medicines) be taken in cycles to allow the body to adjust to the changes in the system. A typical cycle for the ginseng tonic might be daily use for 30 days. Take a week off. Then resume daily usage for 30 days, followed by a rest period, repeating the cycle through the 6 month period of the protocol.

If you should wish to make this tonic, here is a simple formula based on reading 2085-1:

To two ounces of distilled water add a tablespoonful of pure honey (not synthetic, but pure honey). Let this come to a boil, skimming off the dross or sediment as it rises to the top. Then add to this 1/4 ounce of grain alcohol. Then add, in the order named:

Elixir (or fusion) of wild ginseng, 1/4 ounce
Wild ginger (essence or fusion), 1/4 ounce
Tincture of stillingia, 1/4 ounce
Elixir of lactated pepsin, 1/4 ounce
