Meditation and Prayer
Meditation, long accepted in the East, was recommended by Cayce in the 1920s and 1930s. Modern research supports its health benefits, particularly in stress reduction. Meditation involves quieting the mind and body to focus inward, promoting peace and relaxation. Some suggest clearing the mind, but Cayce advocated for using the mind constructively, focusing on positive affirmations like “I am at peace” to deepen attunement. Meditation enhances physical, mental, and spiritual coordination, helping us deal more lovingly with the world.
Cayce outlined five steps for meditation: getting comfortable, performing head-and-neck exercises, using a prayer of protection, breathing deeply, and focusing on affirmations. Additional aids like music and incense can enhance the experience.
Prayer, a universal practice, is central to Cayce’s teachings. He believed that prayer influences the collective mind (Spirit), affecting both ourselves and others. Prayer should be used to ask for the best outcomes and to focus on others in need, not just personal concerns. Cayce also recommended elevating prayer through meditation, creating a sacred time and space, and using positive phrasing.
In summary, both meditation and prayer are essential tools for spiritual growth, offering practical benefits such as stress reduction and fostering a deeper connection with God and others.
