Seeking a visionary CEO to lead A.R.E., Atlantic University, and Edgar Cayce Foundation (collectively, “the organizations”)

About Us:

The Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.), founded in 1931, preserves and disseminates the information in the approximately 14,000 psychic readings channeled by Edgar Cayce, the most documented psychic of all time. Currently, the A.R.E. has 11,780 members in more than 64 countries. It consists of sister organizations that include Atlantic University, the Edgar Cayce Foundation, and related regional organizations throughout the United States. Together, our organizations foster positive personal and global transformation, with the aim of making manifest the love of God for all people. The CEO position is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on an approximately four-acre campus that serves as the hub for the organizations. This location includes a spa, conference facilities, massage school, metaphysical library, bookstore and gift shop, yoga studio, and much more. The CEO will lead and serve these organizations, reporting to and collaborating with a Board of Trustees.

Position Overview:

We seek a passionate and experienced leader to help our organizations facilitate personal and global transformation through the wisdom found in the Edgar Cayce readings. The successful candidate will have a dedication to spiritual growth, with experience in (or deep knowledge of) one or more of the subject areas that comprise the basic principles of the A.R.E., including holistic medicine, reincarnation, dream interpretation, comparative religion, and more. The successful candidate will be a seasoned, skilled and collaborative leader that can demonstrate the core competencies of the position, and handle the responsibilities summarized below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial management, including budgetary planning and revenue growth
  • Lead fundraising efforts, cultivate major donors, and attract resources
  • Serve as principal spokesperson and public representative of the organizations, promoting A.R.E.’s mission
  • Direct organizational administration with a focus on excellence and efficiency
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making skills and a growth mindset that welcomes challenges
  • Drive the continued success and expansion of the organizations through strategic resource management

Characteristics of the ideal CEO for the organizations:

  • Eight or more years successful management experience
  • Undergraduate degree (graduate preferred)
  • Proven fundraising and financial management skills
  • Nonprofit, educational, or corporate leadership experience
  • Inspirational leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A personal spiritual foundation aligned with the Cayce philosophy and a commitment to ongoing spiritual growth and leadership
  • Emotionally intelligent with high ethical standards
  • Comfortable with a high-visibility role in the public eye, as a representative of the organizations
  • Willing to relocate to Virginia Beach area
