We’ll be starting our tour in the area that is near the birthplace of Alexander the Great, who became king of Macedonia at the age of 20 upon the assassination of his father, Phillip. Alexander grew up near Thessaloniki, was schooled at the gymnasium, and studied under the great philosopher, Aristotle. Among other oft-overlooked sites, we’ll will be viewing the tomb of Phillip II and its treasures.

Thessaloniki is also renowned for its association with St. Paul, the wandering missionary for the early church, who is credited as much as any Apostle for the growth of this new religion and spreading the Gospel to Jews and non-Jews alike. Following in St. Paul’s footsteps, we’ll examine his famous letters, absorb his exhortation that love is the greatest virtue, and tune in to the sites of ancient churches, synagogues and temples from the past.

After venturing to Delphi, Corinth, Athens and other famous and inspirational destinations, we will board our cruise ship for a voyage to more unforgettable sites–the famous Greek islands of Santorini, Mykonos and Patmos, and the ancient shrine of Ephesus.
