In 1943, theology graduate student Harmon Bro and his wife June came to Virginia Beach, deeply skeptical of the psychic abilities of Edgar Cayce.

What they came away with was a profound appreciation of the “Miracle Man from Virginia Beach” and lifetime support for what came to be known as “the Work.”

Christopher Naughton is a former New Jersey prosecutor and trial attorney, six-time Emmy® award-winning host and producer of "The American Law Journal," former host of the NPR-affiliate radio program "New World Radio," and is currently the guest host of the former PBS program "New Thinking Allowed with Jeffrey Mishlove." He likely holds the singular distinction of studying the psychic readings of Edgar Cayce while attending Pat Robertson’s graduate school for Broadcast Journalism at what is today Regent University. He is a Life Member of A.R.E., has spoken at numerous conferences, and is a longtime congregant and board member of Unity churches in New Jersey and Virginia. Christopher’s recently released book, "America’s Next Great Awakening," examines the convergence of mysticism, religion, atheism, and science and its impact on the nation’s consciousness. He lives in Virginia Beach with his life (and work) partner, Valerie, and their two doted-upon cats.

Herbert Bruce Puryear first read There is a River in 1951, visited Virginia Beach in 1953, where he lived in the old Cayce home for three weeks, and began speaking for the A.R.E. in 1959, specializing in the Cayce readings on working with dreams. He was a full-time staff member of the A.R.E. from 1969 to 1982, serving both as Director of Education and Director of Research. Since 1982, he has been the President of The Logos Center, founded by him and his wife Anne in Phoenix, AZ. Herb is the author of eight books, including his newest, "Psychology of the Soul," in addition to "The Edgar Cayce Primer," "Reflections on the Path, Sex and the Spiritual Path," and "Why Jesus Taught Reincarnation." He is a graduate of Stanford University, B.A. and of the University of North Carolina, Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Judith Stevens began work at A.R.E. in 1968 and has been a student of the Cayce material for over 50 years. After starting A.R.E.’s Prison Outreach Program in 1972 and serving as manager of the Study Group Program for 20 years, she oversaw 4 Outreach Programs and has just taken on the full time job as A.R.E.’s National Field Volunteers’ Coordinator, where she honors the A.R.E. members she considers the “arms and legs” of the A.R.E., for whom she has deep admiration and respect. A published poet, writer, and musician, she is a regular contributor to Venture Inward magazine and formerly wrote for the A.R.E. Journal, New Millennium, and the A.R.E. News. Judith is a Quaker whose life was changed by the transformative lessons on soul development in the classic “A Search for God,” material, also known as the 262 Series. She is a certified Iyengar yoga instructor who teaches a popular “Yoga for Health” class that focuses on the Cayce health material, complete with weekly handouts, at AREÖM Studio. Her first love remains the efficacy of the small group process as a loving tool for healing and change, the health and physical fitness information that has had such personal application for her, and the principles of abundance, or as the readings call them, “universal laws of economic healing.“ On a personal note, she was a single parent for 14 years while raising her son, Sean, using the Cayce principles. She and her husband, Jack, created the “Little River Poetry Festival” in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia .
