Travel – Auras and Auroras: Iceland (Reykjavik, Borgarfjörðu, Þingvellir)

With Samantha Erb

Date: 11/18/2026 - 11/24/2026

Experience a world where the earth is still being born and the sky dances with celestial light. Auras & Auroras is a 7-day immersive expedition designed to align your inner energy with the raw power of the Arctic. From the ancient seats of Viking power to the glowing heat of freshly cooled lava, this is a sanctuary for those seeking connection, resilience, and wonder.

Heart of Norse History at Reykholt! This sacred ground was once the home of Snorri Sturluson, the brilliant 13th-century chieftain, poet, and historian. As the mastermind behind the Prose Edda and Heimskringla, Sturluson single-handedly rescued the epic tales of Norse mythology and Scandinavian history from being lost to time. His legacy is enormous, and standing in Reykholt makes it tangible

Ancient Echos: Walk the rift between tectonic plates at Þingvellir, where Viking chieftains founded one of the world’s oldest parliaments in 930 AD.

The Dramatic South: Feel the thunder of Skógafoss, wander the obsidian sands of Reynisfjara, and witness a live Lava Show featuring real molten rock.

Ulitmate Restoration: Soak away the Arctic chill in the mineral-rich waters of the Laugarás Lagoon and the world-famous Blue Lagoon.

While sightings of the Northern Lights are never guaranteed, our itinerary features thoughtfully selected hotels in prime aurora-viewing locations, maximizing your chances to witness this breathtaking phenomenon. As we search the skies for the dancing lights, we also invite a deeper connection—awakening and reflecting on the radiance of your own inner aura.

There is a specific magic to Iceland in late November. The “blue hour” lingers, the crowds thin, and the landscape feels like a living myth. Join our Auras & Auroras tour to experience the South Coast and the Reykjanes Peninsula in their most moody, cinematic, and powerful state. Are you ready to align with the North?

Detailed Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Wednesday, November 18, 2026- Arrival in Reykjavík

As you land at Keflavík, leave the logistics to us. Your private transfer will be waiting to whisk you through the otherworldly lava fields toward the vibrant heart of Reykjavík. Upon checking into the sleek Fosshotel Reykjavík, take the afternoon to breathe, unpack, and decompress. Whether you choose to nap, enjoy a crisp Icelandic coffee, or wander the colorful nearby streets, this time is yours to settle into the island’s unique rhythm. In the evening, we come together for a welcome dinner — a chance to set the tone for the week, share expectations, and enjoy your first Icelandic meal as a group.

Hotel: Center Hotel Miðgarður, Reykjavík
Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Thursday, November 19, 2026 – Snæfellsnes Peninsula

A full day exploring Iceland’s western coast. The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is often called “Iceland in miniature” — glacier-capped volcano, dramatic sea cliffs, black sand beaches, ancient fishing villages, and lava fields covered in thick moss. Whether it’s the crisp Arctic air or the volcanic spirit beneath your boots, today is about connection—to the earth and to the silent, powerful beauty of the north. Keep your camera ready; the low-hanging sun creates long shadows and ethereal colors you won’t find anywhere else on earth.

Hotel: Hotel Varmaland
Meals: Breakfast

Day 3: Friday, November 20, 2026 – Borgarfjörður and the Silver Circle

Our morning unfolds in the storied valley of Borgarfjörður, a landscape deeply etched with the history of the Viking age. We step back in time at Reykholt, the intellectual heart of medieval Iceland. This was the sanctuary of Snorri Sturluson, the 13th-century chieftain and poet whose pen preserved the thunderous tales of Norse mythology. From the heights of history, we descend into the depths of the earth. We journey through geothermal valleys toward Viðgelmir, the crown jewel of Iceland’s volcanic underworld. As the largest lava tunnel in the country, this 1,000-year-old subterranean cathedral is a masterclass in raw power. Guided by soft illumination that highlights the frozen “waves” of rainbow-colored rock, you’ll walk through the massive lava tube.

Hotel: Hotel Varmaland
Meals: Breakfast

Day 4: Saturday, November 21, 2026 – Laugarás Lagoon

Our day begins at Þingvellir National Park, a place of profound dualities. Here, you can literally walk between two worlds as the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart, creating a dramatic rift valley found nowhere else on earth.

But the true magic of Þingvellir lies in its echoes of the past. In 930 AD, Viking chieftains gathered in this natural amphitheater to form the Alþingi, one of the world’s oldest parliaments. After a day of geological and historical wonder, we retreat to the tranquil Laugarás Lagoon. Tucked away in a peaceful countryside setting, this hidden gem offers the ultimate Icelandic ritual: a soak in mineral-rich geothermal waters. As the steam rises into the cool evening air, let the warmth soothe your muscles and quiet your mind, reflecting on a day spent at the edge of the world.

Day 5: Sunday, November 22, 2026- The South Coast & Lava Show

Prepare for a day of cinematic proportions as we traverse the legendary South Coast. This stretch of Iceland is a masterclass in contrast—where lush green mountains meet the relentless North Atlantic. We’ll stand in the mist of Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss, waterfalls so powerful they seem to vibrate the earth beneath your feet. Then, we’ll walk the hauntingly beautiful Reynisfjara black sand beach, where jagged basalt columns rise from the surf like ancient cathedrals.

Our day culminates in a deeply resonant experience: The Icelandic Lava Show. This is the only place in the world where you can witness real, molten lava flowing just inches away. Beyond the mesmerizing heat and the orange glow, the show reveals the heartbeat of the Icelandic people. You’ll hear the story of survival and resilience—how for over a millennium, this nation has lived in the shadow of giants.

Hotel: LandHotel
Meals: Breakfast

Day 6: Monday, November 23, 2026 – Reykjanes Peninsula, Blue Lagoon & Farewell

Our final day of exploration brings us to the Reykjanes Peninsula, a region that has become the world’s most vivid classroom for geology in motion. Since 2021, this peninsula has awakened from an 800-year slumber, transforming before our eyes.

After witnessing the raw, fiery power of the earth, we transition to its most soothing gift. The afternoon is dedicated to the Blue Lagoon. Floating in these milky-blue, mineral-rich geothermal waters—surrounded by a stark, snow-dusted lava field—is the quintessential Icelandic experience. We return to Reykjavík for our Farewell Dinner. Over a final celebratory meal, we’ll gather to share our favorite moments, reflect on the transformation we’ve witnessed, and close our circle. It’s a night of gratitude, laughter, and a collective “until next time” to the island that has shared its secrets with us.

Hotel: Center Hotel Miðgarður, Reykjavík
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7: Tuesday, November 24, 2026-Departure

After one last Icelandic breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to say our
goodbyes. Your private transfer will arrive to take you back through the rugged landscapes of the Reykjanes Peninsula toward Keflavík International Airport.

As you head to your gate, and leave behind the magical Northern Lights—the lifelong friendships and grounding energy you’ve found here are yours to keep. From the healing, mineral-rich waters of Blue Lagoon and Laugarás Lagoon to the raw power of Iceland’s roaring waterfalls, the grounding energy of the ancient glaciers, and the resilient spirit of the fire that forged this land you’ve experienced the very soul of the land of fire and ice. Your journey doesn’t end at the gate; it stays with you forever. Safe travels, or as we say in Iceland, Góða ferð!
