Katayoun Farah

Katayoun is a dance/movement therapist-in-training, intuitive educator, and multicultural artist whose work is deeply rooted in the healing power of movement, music, and community. Born in Iran and raised in Virginia Beach, she brings a rich blend of Eastern and Western traditions to her teaching and practice. With decades of experience as a performer, studio owner, and instructor, Katayoun has guided thousands of students of all ages and abilities through movement journeys that foster self-discovery, empowerment, and well-being. Katayoun’s approach is informed by her lifelong engagement with cultural dance and music traditions from Arab, Iranian, and Western lineages, as well as by sacred movement rituals that honor spirit and community. Her classes are more than just dance—they are opportunities for playful exploration, emotional expression, and creative healing. As a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), she integrates knowledge of physical wellness with somatic awareness, ensuring a safe, accessible, and supportive learning environment. Katayoun is dedicated to making dance a joyful and inclusive experience. Through her teaching, writing, and community work, she continues to help others reconnect with their bodies, embrace their stories, and experience the therapeutic magic of movement.
