Overcoming Anxiety Anxiety is a fact of modern
life. For many individuals the level of fear associated with even
simple daily activities can be traumatic. For those experiencing
pathological fear, the “age of anxiety” is a personal reality of monstrous
proportions. Although this article focuses primarily on the more
serious manifestations of anxiety, the underlying dynamics and remedies
that are discussed can be applied by anyone struggling with fear, regardless
of severity or cause.
Valerian Valerian is a popular herb
that has quietly established itself as a viable sleep aid and anxiety
fighter. With increasing public concerns over addiction/dependency
issues associated with many of the mainstream sedatives, valerian provides
a relatively safe and natural alternative for individuals in need of relaxation.
Edgar Cayce recommended valerian in over two hundred readings to improve
digestion and calm the body. Consistent with modern usage of this
botanical, one Cayce reading specifically described it as a non-habit-forming
nerve sedative.
