A.R.E.’s Prison Outreach Program

History of the Prison Outreach Program

Established in 1972 as the “Over the Wall” program, focusing on the A Search for God Study Group material, the Prison Outreach Program has been serving inmates for over 40 years. This important program provides inmates with free books related to the principles outlined in the Edgar Cayce readings, giving inspiration and hope to thousands of inmates every year.

The Prison Outreach Program receives an average of 650 letters per month, which is more than all of the other Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. departments combined! We continue to see a growth in the number of requests for this invaluable material. Since 2001, our output has almost doubled from 5,860 requests to nearly 10,000. This program is funded solely by donations, which means that the number of books we are able to send is directly related to the numbers of dollars given each year. We hope you’ll be inspired to Support our Work today!
